Nuno Espirito Santo delivers defiant stance amid interest in £25m Nottingham Forest star wanted by Aston Villa

Nottingham Forest are in search of new players but it goes without saying that there is interest in some of the club’s top stars.

The Reds have signed six players so far this summer – with Ramon Sosa set to become signing number seven in the coming days.

Forest have Bournemouth in the City Ground curtain-raiser on Saturday and Nuno Espirito Santo is busy gearing up for that game.

There is still some noise about some of his players, however, and the window slamming shut can’t come soon enough in that sense.

Nuno Espirito Santo delivers defiant stance on Morgan Gibbs-White

As the main driving force in the Forest attack, it’s no surprise that Gibbs-White has been linked with a number of clubs, including Newcastle and Aston Villa.

Now, Espirito Santo has delivered an update on the Forest number 10 and he’s in no doubt as to whether he wants Gibbs-White sold or not this summer.

He said in his press conference on YouTube: “Look, what I’m aware is what is on the training ground on a daily basis and everybody is there.

“I hope that everybody is there tomorrow until the last day of the market – that is our priority.

“I realise that there is interest from other clubs, but from Forest’s concern we want to keep them all because they are good players.”

Forest have to keep Gibbs-White

The Reds signed Gibbs-White in the summer of 2022 for an initial £25 million transfer fee that could eventually rise to £40 million.

Since checking in he’s bamboozled the opposition on a regular basis and he’s absolutely adored by the City Ground faithful.

There will come a time when Forest inevitably have to admit defeat and concede that Gibbs-White will sign for a much bigger club.

For now, however, there is no pressure to sell and it would seem as though the 24-year-old is more than happy to remain on Trentside.

It’s good to hear Espirito Santo come out and claim he wants to keep the player at the football club beyond this summer.

Forest will surely only consider a deal should the deal be astronomical and hopefully the number 10 remains in place beyond the end of the window.
