Ryan Yates says there’s something that really disappointed him in Nottingham Forest’s draw vs Bournemouth

It was a tale of two halves for Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday afternoon with the Reds settling for a point.

Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side welcomed Bournemouth to the City Ground for their 2024/25 season opener.

Chris Wood provided Forest with the lead inside the first half following the horrendous injury suffered by midfielder Danilo.

The injury saw Ryan Yates come on as the Brazilian’s replacement on the back of inking his new deal over the summer.

Having been registered with the assist for Woods’ goal, Yates was left disappointed with one aspect of Forest’s game as Bournemouth secured themselves a point.

And it could have been more if it was not for Murillo putting in a stunning interception in the last minute to prevent losing all of the points.

Ryan Yates left really disappointed with one aspect of Forest’s performance

There were certainly some positives to take from the game on Saturday with Forest putting together some good pieces of play.

And it has to be remembered that there were no debuts made from the starting XI with Nikola Milenkovic absent due to a bizarre technicality.

But the Forest captain did provide some criticism on the Reds’ performance after the game as he admitted there was something specific he wanted to see improved.

Next up for Forest is a trip to the newly-promoted Southampton where Yates will be hoping to see his side show their ability to close out the game.

“Tough to take but we got away with it in the first half. It was all Bournemouth in the last 20 minutes and that’s on us,” Yates told BBC Radio Nottingham.

“We got away with it in the first half but weren’t so lucky at the end and they deserved to score.”

Nottingham Forest have more to give after Bournemouth draw

It may well have been a case of two points dropped as far as Forest are concerned given they were only a matter of minutes away from seeing the game out.

But this will have to act as a learning lesson for Forest and they have a great opportunity to put things right on the weekend.

Forest will be coming up against a Saints side who just tasted defeat against a 10-man Newcastle on Saturday afternoon.

Of course, they will also be looking to turn things around themselves but these are the games where Forest need to get the business done.

None of the Forest attackers were really at the races in terms of finding the cutting edge against the Cherries with a slight raise in performances across the board potentially going a long way.
