Nottingham Forest are keen to add another striker to their ranks and Santiago Gimenez is one of the names on the shortlist.
The Reds drew their opening game of 2024/25 with Bournemouth yesterday – and striker Chris Wood started the new season where he left off last time around.
His 14 goals during the last campaign helped Forest remain in the Premier League and it will be hoped he can do the same this time around.
Forest do want reinforcements in their attack though and Gimenez is one name who is firmly on the club’s list.
The Feyenoord star is currently tied into a decent contract with the Eredivisie outfit but some news has been delivered that could excite the fan base.

Update delivered on Nottingham Forest interest in Santiago Gimenez
If this is true – and the source is reputable – then Forest fans might be forgiven for starting to get a little bit excited.
According to Fox Sports, Forest have already made an approach to sign Gimenez, with Nuno Espirito Santo and Miltos Marinakis already holding chats with the player.
Furthermore, it’s believed that the player won’t reject Forest should an offer be accepted by Feyenoord this summer.
Gimenez was in red-hot form during last season, scoring 26 goals for his club and that has alerted a number of European outfits.
It’s not clear exactly what fee it would take for Feyenoord to sell him but clearly things are ramping up a bit at the City Ground.
Gimenez, 23, has made a blistering start to the 2024/25 campaign, scoring four times and claiming two assists so far.
On Sunday, he scored twice in four minutes as Feyenoord battered PEC Zwolle 5-1 away from home.
Forest must now go and get Gimenez
This one shouldn’t take too long to get over the line from here and Forest must now dig deep to get Gimenez over the line.
The man bags goals for fun and although the Premier League would be a step up from the Eredivisie, he’s a risk worth taking.
At 23, he has bags of time on his side to keep improving and Gimenez clearly knows where the back of the net is.
Forest have Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi currently battling things out for the place in attack at Forest and both have their limitations.
Wood is getting on, whilst Awoniyi has struggled to stay fit since he was plucked from Union Berlin in 2022.
Gimenez would bring some youthful exuberance and a knack of being a prolific goalscorer to the City Ground and this is a deal that the clubs simply has to get done
