Nottingham Forest want to take a chance on the signing of Feyenoord star Santiago Gimenez before the summer transfer window slams shut.
Much like the situation with Ibrahim Sangare when Forest plucked him from the Eredivisie it feels like a bit of a saga is developing.
Gimenez netted 26 goals last season and he’s already bagged four times this season, including twice in four minutes in yesterday’s 5-1 win over PEC Zwolle.
The 23-year-old has been courted by a number of English clubs over the last 12 months but now Forest have made the first bid for the striker.
But, how does the player feel about this deal? Some more information has come to light and it appears that this is a story that is going to rumble on.

Journalist shares how Santiago Gimenez feels about Forest interest
According to Florian Plettenberg, the Reds have made a first bid – although it’s not been accepted by Feyenoord who want a higher transfer fee.
However, he has claimed that Gimenez is open to trying a new challenge this season and is now willing to walk away from the Eredivisie.
He has a contract with his current club until 2027 so Feyenoord do have a little bit of insurance in that sense.
Gimenez is valued at around £30 million and it’s likely the club would want to recoup a replacement if Forest are successful in prising him away from the Dutch outfit.
It will certainly tempt Forest into another offer if they’re aware that Gimenez is keen for a deal to go through and hopefully, there can be a breakthrough.
Forest need a striker to go alongside Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi in the squad and perhaps a younger option in Gimenez would be ideal.
Forest must up the ante for Gimenez
At 23, the player fits the profile of what Forest are trying to do in the transfer market this summer.
He has a high ceiling and even at £30 million he would likely retain a significant amount of his resale value in the future.
Gimenez would have to prove himself in the Premier League given that he’s only scored goals in the Eredivisie before.
Forest will almost certainly return with another bid for the centre-forward and the fact he wants to move on from Feyenoord is a huge bonus.
Now, supporters will have to wait and see what happens but this one does feel like it’s achievable from a Forest perspective.
