Burnley open talks to sign Nottingham Forest player who fell out with Steve Cooper

Nottingham Forest are trying to find a home for a number of players who find themselves surplus to requirements this summer.

Forest have done some good work in the transfer market, bringing in seven new recruits, with more expected to follow.

There is still some work to do, however, and that means players leaving the club as well as the ones who will arrive before the window closes.

Emmanuel Dennis, Josh Bowler, Omar Richards and Joe Worrall are four players that Nuno Espirito Santo is keen to get out of the exit door on Trentside.

None of the quartet were involved in the final pre-season game – or against Bournemouth in the curtain-raiser on Saturday.

Now, some news of interest in one of those players has come to light earlier today.

Burnley want to sign Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall

It has to be said that Forest star Worrall saw the writing go on the wall when he fell out with Steve Cooper.

Worrall was unhappy at being named on the bench for a home game against Aston Villa and eventually wasn’t even named in the squad.

Now, according to Football Insider, the Reds are going to receive an offer from Burnley for Worrall as they look to bolster their squad.

Scott Parker has hit the ground running in the opening two games for the Clarets, with nine goals scored in just two matches.

Worrall only played seven times for the Reds in the Premier League last season and the fat lady has been clearing her throat on his time at Forest for some time.

At 27-years-old, the central defender needs regular football and Burnley could offer him the chance to do that.

Forest need to get Worrall off the books this summer

It shouldn’t have been like this. After captaining Forest to Play-Off Final success, Worrall was supposed to prove that he was made to play in the Premier League.

Instead, he’s not done that at all, struggling to make an impact when he has played in the top flight, with other defenders overtaking him.

For the second half of last season, he went on loan to Besiktas and despite holding a £4 million option to buy him, the Turkish team chose not to.

Now, he’s in limbo at the City Ground and he’s far too capable not to be playing football somewhere this season.

Hopefully, Burnley come up with a permanent offer and Forest can finally wave goodbye to a player who clearly has no future on Trentside.
