The plot continues to thicken as Nottingham Forest try and entice Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez to the club this summer.

Transfer expert Graeme Bailey has already told us that Gimenenz is the number one striker target for Forest before the window closes.

In the last few days, it’s been claimed that Forest are also in talks with Arsenal over Eddie Nketiah – and no stone is being left unturned.

Now, another update has emerged and it would appear that Forest are going down swinging when it comes to potentially signing Gimenez.

Fabrizio Romano delivers update on Nottingham Forest and Santiago Gimenez

There’s no rest for the wicked when it comes to Romano at this time of the year and he’s being kept busy with the Gimenez to Forest speculation.

This morning he exclusively revealed on X that Forest have now sent an improved offer worth around £27 million to Feyenoord for their main striker.

He’s claimed that the deal is now being worked on once again with a new proposal made to the Eredivisie outfit that does include a string of add-ons.

Romano has also reiterated the news from earlier this week that claimed Nketiah is also on the club’s shortlist.

Gimenez is a player in fine form and someone who knows where the back of the net is.

Last season he scored 26 goals and helped Feyenoord qualify for the Champions League where they will receive automatic entry to the new-look group stages.

This season he’s raced out of the blocks too. Gimenez has found the net four times in three games, scoring twice in four minutes during a 5-1 demolition of PEC Zwolle at the weekend.

Forest pushing hardest to sign Gimenez

At 23-years-old, Gimenez is clearly the striker that would excite the Forest fan base the most this summer.

He’s a player who knows how to score goals and given his tender years, there is still a rather high ceiling when it comes to his potential.

Naturally, the risk comes in terms of the league that he currently operates in, with the Eredivisie hardly the most challenging division.

Still, Gimenez looks to have an abundance of talent and if he does come to Forest he should quickly become the number one striker.

Nketiah has his qualities too but he’s two years older than Gimenez and perhaps there isn’t the same value for money when it comes to the Arsenal man.

It’s good news that Forest haven’t walked away from this deal and it will now be interesting to see how Feyenoord view the latest offer from Forest.
