Nottingham Forest are in the market for a new striker before the transfer window closes on Friday week.
The Reds do have Chris Wood – who is bang in form under Nuno Espirito Santo – and Taiwo Awoniyi currently in their ranks.
However, a stellar signing is being sought in attack, with Eddie Nketiah being linked with a move to Forest this summer.
Transfer guru Graeme Bailey believes that Forest have made Santiago Gimenez their number one target – and it’s fair to say things are heating up.

Third striker not on the list at Nottingham Forest
This feels like exciting news and it comes from TalkSPORT who have been discussing the situation regarding transfers at Forest.
It’s claimed in the piece that although Forest are locked in talks with Feyenoord for Gimenez and Arsenal for Nketiah, there is a third striker who has come to the table.
Right now, the identity of the player is unclear but it says in the piece that the City Ground could be a hive of activity as the window draws to a close.
Forest completed seven deals on transfer deadline day last summer but the window had proved a slow one up to that point.
It’s hard to imagine the club doing that much business again 12 months on but it does feel as though a striker signing is definitely on the cards.
Forest have to get striker addition right
It will be fascinating to see who comes in to bolster the club’s attacking arsenal and Forest are clearly identifying targets still at this stage.
Neither Gimenez nor Nketiah are nailed on and it’s good that Forest have another iron in the fire ready to come in if those moves go south.
Tempting Gimenez to turn down Champions League football is proving tricky for Forest, whilst Nketiah is going to be expensive and wants paying a lot.
Whoever comes in will have a job to do. First, they will have to compete with Wood and Awoniyi for a place in the team and then they will have to prove they can score the goals to keep Forest up again.
Watch this space, but it looks set to be an exciting end to the window for the Forest fan base.
