Nottingham Forest are working on a deal to sign a striker before Friday’s transfer deadline, with Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah on the shortlist.
Forest have also been in talks with Feyenoord over a deal for Santiago Gimenez and it looks set to go to the wire when it comes to landing a talisman.
Chris Wood has led the line in the opening two games of the season, with Taiwo Awoniyi providing competition from the bench.
Forest have scored twice in their opening two matches but have created a host of chances against both Bournemouth and Southampton.
Now, a fresh update in the search for a new striker and things look to be hotting up as the deadline approaches.

Nottingham Forest submit new bid for Santiago Gimenez
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Reds have upped the ante in the race to sign a new striker with Gimenez in the sights once again.
The Mexican talisman is now subject to a £31 million bid from Forest – and if it’s accepted it would be a club record fee for Feyenoord to receive.
Gimenez has scored four goals already this season and during 2023/24 he found the back of the net on 26 occasions.
The 23-year-old has proven himself in the Eredivisie and ultimately, he will want to test himself in a top division.
Forest have to get themselves a new striker over the line and any talisman who comes in should fancy their chances of scoring goals with the creativity that the team has.
Furthermore, Romano believes that Gimenez wants to sign for Forest and now the third bid from Forest is once again down to the clubs.
Gimenez is the stellar signing that Forest crave
This would give the clubs battling to be in and around the Reds in the table that Forest aren’t here to mess around this season.
Gimenez is a top, top player and at 23 it’s fair to say that he has a very high ceiling.
In both games that Forest have played so far, a number of chances have been created and Gimenez would surely rub his hands together at the chance to play for the club right now.
Nuno Espirito Santo is keen to bolster his attack with new players and signing Gimenez would see the club land a quality player.
If the star hit the ground running and started to score goals, Forest’s season expectations could very quickly switch gears.
With the deadline day fast approaching, things look to be hotting up on the banks of the River Trent and it will be interesting to see if Feyenoord are willing to play ball this time.
