Nottingham Forest want £25m-rated Premier League star who makes more passes than Danilo

Nottingham Forest are gearing up for transfer deadline day with a couple of gaps in the squad still to finalise before the window slams shut.

A new striker is going to be the order of the day. Eddie Nketiah was linked but Forest have now pulled out of a deal after failing to agree on terms with the talisman.

Santiago Gimenez is the next man on the Forest striker shortlist. He’s been the subject of a third bid from Forest and the club awaits a response from Feyenoord.

It would appear that Forest are now going to dip into the market for another midfielder – with Danilo set to be out for a few months after breaking his ankle.

Nottingham Forest want Fulham star Andreas Pereira

According to the Daily Mail, Forest want the Fulham playmaker before the window slams shut on Friday.

The player is being courted by a host of clubs – including Aston Villa – and Fulham value him at £25 million.

Pereira has played in both of the Cottagers’ opening two Premier League games and is a top player at Craven Cottage.

The 28-year-old has made 84 appearances in West London, scoring eight goals and claiming 15 assists.

Pereira came through the youth ranks at Manchester United and made 75 appearances for the senior ranks at Old Trafford.

He claimed nine goal contributions at the Theatre of Dreams and also spent time on loan with Lazio, Valencia and Granada.

Landing Pereira might not be easy from a Forest perspective as he still has two years remaining on his existing deal.

Pereira could bolster midfield ranks at the City Ground

There could be a number of reasons that Forest have been linked with Periera.

One could be that the player is keen to extend his contract with the club and has asked his agent to get his name out there.

Another could be that he is available and perhaps wants a different challenge away from Craven Cottage.

Periera is cute in possession and according to Squawka, he made more successful passes than Danilo during last season’s Premier League campaign.

Signing a central midfielder perhaps isn’t the priority at the City Ground but with Danilo injured, it could be something that is looked at.

Ryan Yates, Elliot Anderson, Nicolas Dominguez and Ibrahim Sangare are the midfield options and perhaps the club fancies that Pereira can offer something different.

In our view, this one feels like a bit of a long shot from a Forest perspective and instead, it will be a case of all guns blazing for a new striker instead.
