Whether Nottingham Forest are likely to consider reviving move for Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah at last minute

Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move to sign Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah during the January transfer window.

The Reds have been on the lookout for a new striker for the entire summer and it would appear the shortlist has been whittled down to two.

Nketiah had been joined on the list by Santiago Gimenez and yesterday it was claimed that Forest had made a third bid for the Mexican.

This came before it was claimed that a move for Nketiah had now fallen through, with the player unable to agree on personal terms at the City Ground.

With the transfer deadline on the horizon this Friday, the Reds must now decide how to play this and it appears the club has made a decision on Nketiah.

Whether Nottingham Forest will make another attempt to sign Eddie Nketiah

It feels as though the Arsenal striker has missed the boat when it comes to moving to Forest this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, it’s believed that it’s very unlikely that Forest will revive any move to make Nketiah a player before the window ends.

Forest have Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi in their squad right now but another – more stellar option – is demanded by the club this summer.

Now, all roads look to be leading to Gimenez and another bid has been made to Feyenoord for their star player.

It’s also been claimed in this latest report that Forest were so close to landing Nketiah that a medical was booked for him in Nottingham.

Now, it’s a case of back to the drawing board and Forest will hope to conclude a deal for Gimenez before the window slams shut on Friday.

Forest wise to move on from Nketiah

Although the 25-year-old might have fit nicely into the business model that Forest have adopted for recruitment, there did seem little desire to make the move.

Nketiah earns a decent £120,000-a-week wage at Arsenal and it’s unlikely he’d have wanted to budge on that.

However, Forest made him an offer which they thought was acceptable and clearly Nketiah didn’t feel the same.

The Reds have to try and get players in who want to come into the football club, perform well and help the team try and kick on.

Nketiah would have been afforded time to play regularly in the Forest first team but perhaps it’s clear that his motives lie elsewhere.

Forest are right to turn their back on Nketiah and if he doesn’t get a move before Friday, he could seriously regret letting this move collapse.
