Nottingham Forest have a new striker in their sights during today’s transfer deadline and they’re now pressing hard for one particular signing.
It had claimed earlier this week that Forest have flown out for talks with Santiago Gimenez, following their move for Eddie Nketiah going south.
However, there are clearly more irons in the fire as the club looks to have Nuno Espirito Santo every tool possible to kick Forest further up the Premier League.
After four points in two games to kick off the new campaign, optimism is high and the club want to get their squad well-stocked before Friday’s cut-off.
Nottingham Forest in advanced talks over Omar Marmoush
According to Rob Dorsett live on Sky Sports, Forest are now pushing hard to try and complete a deal to sign the Egyptian striker.
The 25-year-old is on the back of a solid season in the Bundesliga, and he scored 17 goals in all competitions for the German outfit.
Forest face Wolves tomorrow in the Premier League and it does feel as though whoever comes in now will have to wait for a debut until after the international break.
Last season, Marmoush was praised by boss Dino Topmoller after he scored twice against Borussia Dortmund.
He told King Fut: “Omar is a fantastic boy who always gives maximum effort in addition to his blistering pace.”
Marmoush is also an international with Egypt – often playing alongside Mohamed Salah – and for the national team he’s scored five goals in 29 outings.
It was claimed yesterday that Marmoush wants to come to Forest and he’s desperate for the move to happen before the deadline tonight.
Forest will now look to thrash out a deal with Frankfurt and ensure the player is added to the ranks in time to meet the deadline.
Marmoush could be ideal alternative to Santiago Gimenez
Clearly, Gimenez remains the top target at Forest but it’s good to see that backup plans are in place if that doesn’t come to fruition.
At 25, he fits in with the profile of players that Forest have tried to attract this summer and with 17 goals during 2023/24, he can clearly score goals.
Marmoush would likely cost similar to what Gimenez was going to but he’s played in a better league than what the Mexican has.
The fact that he’s fast definitely bodes well too, with Forest really needing a striker who is happy to run in behind and get on the end of through balls.
Marmoush would be in his element doing that with Morgan Gibbs-White supplying the ammo and in our view, there is a lot to like about this particular deal.
