Nottingham Forest are hoping to finalise their squad ahead of tonight’s transfer deadline with a number of players in the club’s sights.
It’s been a long window in terms of trying to land a striker with a number of targets falling by the wayside.
Santiago Gimenez was a big target for Forest but he has chosen not to move away from Feyenoord this summer with Champions League football on the table.
Eddie Nketiah was also a target but he looks set to sign for Crystal Palace on transfer deadline day after wanting to remain in London.
It’s not just a striker that Forest are keen to get hold of though and it appears the club want to strengthen at the other end of the pitch too.

Nottingham Forest will make another Caoimhin Kelleher bid
According to Pete O’Rourke, Forest aren’t done when it comes to Kelleher and the club intends to make another bid closer to the £25 million valuation.
The Reds are keen to add competition for Carlos Miguel and Matz Sels, with Liverpool stopper Kelleher a long-term target of the recruitment team.
Forest made a very cheeky offer to Liverpool yesterday that caused some bemusement among the Forest fan base.
The Reds offered £20 million plus Matt Turner – the American goalkeeper deemed surplus to requirements – but unsurprisingly it was rejected flat out by Liverpool.
However, Forest are undeterred in their quest to land the Republic of Ireland international and another bid is now set to be made for Kelleher.
Forest must prioritise striker signing today
If it’s between spending £25 million on a goalkeeper or the same amount on a striker then it really is a no-brainer for Forest to land a talisman.
Miguel showed against Newcastle that he’s a capable goalkeeper, whilst Sels has done just fine since signing from Strasbourg in January.
As a result, the Reds aren’t desperate for a goalkeeper but one injury in the striker department and it could be seriously detrimental to Forest’s season.
Kelleher is a brilliant goalkeeper and you don’t play over 40 times for Liverpool if you’re not doing something right.
However, strengthening the goalkeeping department might be one for next year – or January – rather than rushing to get something sorted today.
