Nottingham Forest tried desperately to try and sign a new striker during the transfer window but despite their best efforts, it proved in vain.
Santiago Gimenez was the one that Forest really wanted. However, he changed his mind on a number of occasions and Forest were left frustrated.
Another player on the list was Eddie Nketiah but after a chat with Oliver Glasner, he chose to pledge his future to Crystal Palace instead.
Ahead of deadline day, Forest tried to target other options and Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush was on the radar.
He wasn’t a third choice as such but ultimately – much like Gimenez and Nketiah – Marmoush chose not to make the move to Forest.

Club spokesperson takes aim at Forest over Marmoush
This is quite something – and a little bit petty, if we’re being completely honest.
Alex Hellman is a spokesperson for the board at Eintracht Frankfurt and he’s discussed how easy it was to convince Marmoush to stay in the Bundesliga.
He told Frankfurter Rundschau: “If there had been an adequate offer for him or for us, then we would have thought about it.
“In plain language, that means if there had been an attractive club and good earnings, then we wouldn’t have kept him.
“If Manchester City had said they wanted Marmoush and he could earn four times as much there, then I wouldn’t have been able to tell him to stay here.
“In this case, a lot of things came together. But if Manchester City had come knocking, then the cheque to us would have probably have been bigger and I would have said to take it.”
Forest unlikely to return for Marmoush
Given that the player has now been talked out of a move to Forest by Frankfurt, it could mean that Forest move on to other players in the future.
Marmoush is valued at £28 million by Frankfurt and Forest didn’t believe he was worth that much and chose to walk away from the deal.

These comments are somewhat disrespectful from Hellman and it’s likely that he knows what he’s doing with the claims he’s made.
It would appear that he’s trying to get some of the bigger clubs from the Premier League in the mix to sign Marmoush and hand Frankfurt a bigger payday.
Marmoush scored 17 times in the Bundesliga last term but now it would appear that Forest are going to walk away from any possible deal for the Egyptian.
