What Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner told Eddie Nketiah after Nottingham Forest made £30m bid to get him from Arsenal

Nottingham Forest tried desperately to try and sign Eddie Nketiah this month but ultimately it’s proved in vain.

The striker has rejected Forest – although he is still expected to leave Arsenal before the transfer window closes on Friday.

A number of players are now being linked with Forest with Brentford star Yoane Wissa the latest to be reportedly on the radar.

Brazilian talisman Pedro is also being linked with Forest and it will be intriguing to see what the club manages to get done before the close of play on Friday.

Nketiah rejected the club seemed a little odd though and now some more information has come to light on the situation.

Why Eddie Nketiah chose to reject Nottingham Forest

This all boils down to a conversation that Nketiah had with a manager interviewed by Forest before Nuno Espirito Santo was appointed in December.

Oliver Glasner wasn’t given the nod by Evangelos Marinakis and ended up at Crystal Palace following their decision to part with Roy Hodgson.

Now, according to Give Me Sport, it was a conversation with Glasner that persuaded Nketiah to reject the advances of Forest.

A deal in the region of £30 million was agreed between Forest and Arsenal, with a medical booked for the player last week.

Now, Nketiah looks to be signing for Palace after Glasner told him to simply sit tight and wait for an approach from the Eagles.

Forest must move on quickly from Nketiah

After the setback with Nketiah, Forest moved to try and sign Santiago Gimenez – but he’s now rejected the advances from the club too.

Now, it’s a case of working further down the shortlist to try and land the sought-after striker before the transfer window closes.

Thankfully there are still a few days to get things sorted out and it’s positive that some new links have emerged today.

Only time will tell whether Forest got away with one over Nketiah or whether the club should have pushed harder to land him.

His move to Palace looks imminent and it would appear that Glasner has got one up on Forest on this occasion.
