Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White has completed a lifelong dream and managed to claim an England cap after stepping off the bench against the Republic of Ireland on Saturday.
Gibbs-White has waited a long time to receive a call-up. He wasn’t so fortunate under Gareth Southgate’s stewardship but interim boss Lee Carsley has been keen to get him involved.
The 24-year-old has made a quality start to the 2024/25 campaign. He scored the winning goal for Forest against Southampton in August and will be looking to add more goals to his game as the season progresses.
Gibbs-White will now be hoping to get a starting berth against Finland at Wembley on Tuesday night. Against Ireland, for his debut, he played for 18 minutes off the bench and next, he will be eyeing a start.

Gabriel Agbonlahor raves about Morgan Gibbs-White
From a Forest fan’s perspective, there really aren’t enough superlatives to keep describing Gibbs-White. His efforts for Forest have got him to this point and the scary thing is there is more to come.
Agbonlahor is a huge fan of Gibbs-White and raved about him ahead of his England debut.
He told TalkSPORT: “I have always been a fan of him. What I like about him as well is the skill to score a goal, he run with the ball, but he has got that cheeky side where you would have a bit of beef with a player on the pitch, he has got something about him that I really like.
“When you have done so well for a manager in the Under-21s, then he gets the job, you have got to think straightaway I have got a chance. Go out there and prove that Lee Carsley is right bringing you into the squad.”
Where Gibbs-White has to improve to ensure regular England spot
At 24 there is loads of time on the side of Gibbs-White and any weaknesses can be ironed out. One of those is definitely the number of goals that he scores and by his own admission, it’s something he’s going to work on.
Gibbs-White will get plenty of time to get up to the goalscoring standard required, with Nuno Espirito Santo a huge fan.
The England call-up can only be a good thing for Gibbs-White. He has the world at his feet right now and Forest might be wise to place another £10 million on his valuation following his England run out.
