Head coach delivers verdict on Nottingham Forest star after making him captain

Nottingham Forest signed a number of players this summer with Nikola Milenkovic one of the more eyecatching additions to the squad.

The Serbian defender has bags of experience despite his tender age of 26-years-old and helped Fiorentina reach back-to-back European finals.

Forest needed some defensive recruits with Joe Worrall, Felipe and Moussa Niakhate all leaving in some shape or form.

Milenkovic has been brilliant for Forest so far. He didn’t play in the opening game against Bournemouth as he was banned following a red card in an Italian Cup fixture.

Now he’s away playing for Serbia and last week he helped the club claim a goalless draw against Euro 2024 winners Spain.

Serbia head coach raves about Forest star Nikola Milenkovic

This was a sound performance from the player and Forest have done exceptionally well to get Milenkovic for just £12 million.

The tough-tackling defender was tossed the captain’s armband for the date with Spain and that seemed to ignore a solid performance.

Dragan Stojkovic, 59, is the man tasked with leading Serbia at the moment and he’s shared why Minlinkovic was the man chosen for the captaincy role.

He told BBC: “I’m glad I decided to make him the captain, he fully justified the role.”

Forest need Milenkovic back fit and fresh

Serbia are taking on Denmark in the Nations League today and Milenkovic is once again wearing the armband.

The team will look to build on the draw with Spain and the hope will be that a win can be secured to get off the mark in the competition.

Forest will be thankful that Serbia aren’t in action again after today and Milenkovic can then return to the City Ground.

Milenkovic has already added something to the team that can complement Murillo and together it looks like a partnership could certainly blossom.

At 26, the player isn’t even in his prime yet and the Forest fan base could see Milenkovic go to the next level during his time at the club.
