Nottingham Forest face a thankless task this weekend when they visit Anfield to play Premier League giants Liverpool on their own patch.
Forest have made an unbeaten start to the 2024/25 campaign, winning away at Southampton and drawing games against Bournemouth and Wolves.
It’s perhaps a little bit disappointing that Forest weren’t able to win one of their home games – but there have been some exciting signings from the three games so far.
Bigger challenges will be on the horizon for Forest and this weekend sees the Reds face a very tough test.
Liverpool are showing no signs of a hangover on the back of Jurgen Klopp departing, with Arne Slot yet to see his team concede a goal yet this season.
Nuno Espirito Santo will know that his team are up against it this weekend – and he might be a little apprehensive over the game for another reason.

Nuno Espirito Santo will go into Liverpool clash with abysmal personal record
Facing Liverpool is going to be hard enough for Forest without having a head coach who must have serious nightmares about facing the Reds.
Espirito Santo has a truly abysmal record against Liverpool as a manager and he will be hoping to arrest such a run this weekend.
According to Transfermarkt, Espirito Santo has faced Liverpool eight times as a manager, winning just once and losing the other seven occasions.
Espirito Santo’s only victory came when Wolves knocked Liverpool out of the FA Cup in the 2018/19 campaign.
His most recent three games against Liverpool have come at the expense of six goals against his team and just one for.
Forest were robbed against Liverpool last season at the City Ground when Espirito Santo’s coach Steven Reid was red-carded after the final whistle.
Forest must face Liverpool without fear
Getting anything from a place where Liverpool hardly drop points will be tough but Forest must adopt a gameplan and stick to it.
Clearly, the Reds won’t have a lot of the ball and it really is a case of nothing to lose for the Reds against the Anfield giants.
Espirito Santo’s record against Liverpool doesn’t really mean a great deal in the grand scheme of things but he will be aware that he doesn’t always come out on top against them.
Forest will earn a lot of plaudits at Liverpool if they’re brave and simply have a go at the opposition and it will be fascinating to see how the Reds line up.
