Alan Shearer thought £70m-rated Nottingham Forest star was amazing vs Liverpool

Nottingham Forest went to Liverpool at the weekend and claimed a big three points to remain unbeaten in the Premier League.

The winning goal came from the right foot of Callum Hudson-Odoi who bagged his maiden strike of the 2024/25 campaign.

Forest defied the odds to claim three points at Anfield and left there with maximum points in the Premier League for the first time since 1969.

Picking a Man of the Match on Saturday was a tough ask. There were compelling arguments for a number of players for their efforts at such a tough place to go.

Forest were the better side for large parts of the game. As a result, the win wasn’t a fluke in the slightest and hopefully, the Reds will get some credit for the performance.

Alan Shearer hails Forest defender Murillo

It’s fair to say that the Forest star is very much the man in form right now. Murillo was linked with a move away from Forest this summer, with Inter Milan in the mix to sign him.

Murillo is valued at £70 million by Forest and it looks unlikely the club will budge on that valuation any time soon.

On Saturday, the centre-back was once again in fine form and he appears to have shaken off some erratic tendencies during the club’s pre-season campaign.

Shearer named four Forest players in his Team of the Week and Murillo was one of the star men who made the grade after the famous win.

The pundit told the Premier League’s official website: “Was solid as a rock at the heart of the Forest defence as they claimed a first league win at Anfield in 55 years.”

Murillo valuation could soar with more performances like this

At 22-years-old, it’s hard to imagine that Murillo will remain at Forest for much longer given the vast potential that he’s showcased since coming to the City Ground.

It’s quite brilliant that the club stood firm on their valuation of Murillo this summer. It seemed for all the world that he would be sold but nobody got close to his valuation.

Now, with another season at Forest, the club really could be quids in when the time does come to sell him in the future.

Murillo isn’t without his imperfections but as he proved on Saturday against Liverpool, he’s the man for the big occasion and is renowned for coming up trumps.

Forest have a real star on their hands and hopefully, he can improve again this season and help the club enjoy a more comfortable Premier League campaign.
