Nottingham Forest offer four-year deal to £40,000-a-week star who amazed Ian Wright

Nottingham Forest have a strong group of players for the 2024/25 campaign and there have been a number of top performances so far this season.

The Reds are unbeaten this season with two wins and two draws following the 1-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield last weekend.

One of the top performers against Liverpool came from Forest star Ola Aina and Ian Wright praised him for his efforts afterwards.

He switched over to right-back for the Anfield visit, with Alex Moreno coming in at left-back for his maiden Premier League start for Forest.

Aina signed for Forest on a free transfer in the summer of 2023 and he looks like a very shrewd piece of business as a freebie.

Nottingham Forest plan Ola Aina contract extension

According to reports in Nigeria from All Nigeria Soccer, Forest are now preparing to tie Aina to a new deal at the City Ground.

In the summer, Aina was rewarded with a contract for his efforts last season but was only given a one-year extension.

Now, it’s claimed that Aina will be handed a four-year offer as the club bids to keep him at the club ahead of his best years.

The Nigeria international is 27 now and Forest clearly want to keep Aina in their defence for longer than the current campaign.

Aina has struggled with injury issues and in total, he’s made 26 appearances for Forest, scoring once in a 2-0 win over Aston Villa last season.

Aina contract is a must for Forest

Considering the club landed him for free, Forest have to protect their asset and keep Aina at Trentside for the foreseeable.

A four-year deal takes him into his thirties and he’s more than earned an extension to his existing Forest deal.

Hopefully, this one can get done pretty quickly. The celebrations after the Liverpool game showcased a player clearly happy at Forest and it’s hard to imagine him rejecting the advances.

Aina earns £40,000-a-week at Forest and in the grand scheme of things he’s hardly a top earner when it comes to wages at the City Ground.
