What Leicester fans were chanting about former Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper during League Cup clash

Nottingham Forest have made a sound start to the Premier League campaign in 2024/24, taking two wins and three draws from five games.

Nine points is a healthy total for the Reds and right now the club flies a proud flag for the East Midlands when it comes to football.

Derby County are trying to stabilise as a Championship club once again after very nearly going under three years ago.

Leicester City are in something of turmoil right now – with Steve Cooper starting to feel the heat despite only being at the King Power Stadium for a matter of months.

Last night the Foxes faced Walsall of League Two in the Carabao Cup and things turned a little bit nasty for promotion-winning boss worshipped by Forest.

What Leicester fans sung to Steve Cooper during Leicester win

The Foxes did get through to the next round of the League Cup last night but the performance was hardly convincing.

Leicester drew the game with opposition three leagues lower 0-0 before prevailing on penalties – something that Cooper does know all about!

It’s claimed by Forest-supporting journalist Daniel Storey that Leicester fans were signing, ‘This is embarrassing’ and ‘Cooper, Cooper, sort it out’, during the game.

Furthermore, it’s also believed that there was an incident with a fan during the second half of the contest.

Jack Rafferty who commentates for BBC Radio Leicester Sport shared something that happened during the game and it doesn’t sound good.

He posted on X: “Ridiculous scenes here as a Leicester fan runs onto the pitch and over to shout towards Steve Cooper and the City bench. He’s eventually brought down by a Walsall player and dragged off by stewards. Hamza Choudhury also had a word in the process.”

Cooper doomed from the start at Leicester

The Foxes had very little to spend during the summer transfer window and that has severely hampered Leicester when it comes to strengthening the squad.

Cooper did manage to get a few players in but none are able to hold a flame to a player like Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall who was sold to Chelsea.

Then there is the fact that Cooper’s last job came at Forest – a club that all Leicester fans view as their main rival way ahead of their relationship with Derby.

Cooper hasn’t really covered himself in glory when it comes to the Premier League.

He did amazingly well to keep Forest in the Premier League during season one in the top-flight but that saw the Reds carry the plucky underdog tag.

Last season prior to his sacking the Reds looked void of ideas and rarely looked like getting back into games once a goal had been conceded.

Nobody associated with Forest will wish detriment on Cooper but with things starting to turn nasty it seems for all the world that the writing already looks on the wall.
