Nottingham Forest were rocked on the opening day of the 2024/25 campaign when Danilo suffered a serious injury during a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth.
The Reds suffered the blow after just 10 minutes when the Brazilian lay stricken on the turf after merely jumping for a routine header.
Danilo was in fine form last season and his absence in the middle of the park will be sorely felt whilst he undergoes his rehabilitation.
Nuno Espirito Santo has shared that Danilo might be back in action for the New Year but it looks like being a long road to recovery for him.
The Forest head coach moved to secure James Ward-Prowse on transfer deadline day to bolster his midfield and all bases have been covered by his injury.
Doctor now provides update on Danilo injury situation
This looks to be very positive news indeed with the player’s doctor providing an update on Instagram.
Alongside a photograph of himself with Danilo and a Forest shirt bearing his name and number on the back he posted an update on his injury situation.
He wrote: “Today we complete the treatment of our great athlete Danilo at the clinic.
“It’s been an immense pleasure following each day of your recovery and seeing your evolution.
“I was even happier to be presented with this signed shirt, which will always remind me of this journey of overcoming! Thank you for your trust and partnership.”
Danilo will have to fight for his Forest shirt when he returns
The 23-year-old has been in fine form since signing for Forest for £16 million from Palmeiras in January 2023.
Danilo has chipped in with some important goals since signing for the Reds, bagging six goals and claiming four assists in 50 appearances.
He will be sorely missed while he’s out and there are now lots of options fighting in the battle to play midfield for Forest.

Ryan Yates is the club captain, with Ward-Prowse, new signing Elliot Anderson and Nicolas Dominguez all capable of operating in the engine room.
Furthermore, Ibrahim Sangare started the season in strong form but he’s now joined Danilo in the treatment room.
One thing that Forest needed ahead of this season was options and now there is serious strength in depth on Trentside.
This update on Danilo is most welcome and hopefully, the fan base can witness him back on the pitch ahead of schedule in the coming months.
