Stephen Warnock says Nottingham Forest duo are like father and son, they’ve been that good

Nottingham Forest claimed a 1-1 draw and a share of the spoils against Chelsea in the latest round of Premier League matches.

The Reds are proving to be a force on the road this season, with two wins and two draws coming from the games away from the City Ground.

Forest will now strive to get going on home soil. The results on Trentside haven’t been good, with two draws and a defeat coming at home.

Nuno Espirito Santo is doing strong things though and earned praise from Jamie O’Hara after yesterday’s contest with Chelsea.

The Forest head coach has made the Reds a bit of a force away from home and Chelsea found it tough to break Forest down yesterday.

Joe Hart thought Matz Sels was brilliant during the contest but a number of Forest players were standout performers on the afternoon.

Stephen Warnock raves about two Nottingham Forest players

The two players in question who came in for praise from Warnock were Elliot Anderson and James Ward-Prowse.

The pair have been playing in midfield alongside each other, with Forest going with three midfielders yesterday.

Anderson was a £35 million signing from Newcastle in the summer, whilst Ward-Prowse joined on a season-long loan from West Ham.

Warnock has been impressed with the pair and believes the two players remind him of a father-and-son combination.

He said on Match of the Day 2: “The two midfielders are exceptional as well.

“The relationship that Elliot Anderson and James Ward-Prowse have got between them there is almost a father figure to a new kid on the block.

“It’s that old and young head that has really gelled well. The midfield relationship was spot on.”

Ward-Prowse and Anderson are both quality signings

Quality over quantity was the order of the day for Forest in the transfer market this summer and Forest hit the jackpot.

Anderson might have seemed expensive but ultimately, the price was offset by Odysseas Vlachodimos joining Newcastle for £20 million.

He’s proved a very useful addition to the ranks so far and at 21-years-old he has an abundance of potential too.

Ward-Prowse has a record that speaks for itself. He’s closing in on David Beckham’s record of goals directly from free-kicks and hopefully, he can get that this season.

Together the pair do make a good partnership and with more game time the two could really flourish together.

Warnock does make an interesting comment about the age gap between the two.

Anderson has played quite a bit of football for a 21-year-old but having Ward-Prowse next to him could still prove pretty useful.
