Morgan Gibbs-White’s injury suffered against Chelsea will have given some Nottingham Forest fans sleepless nights, and now there’s finally been an update.

Nuno Espirito Santo was worried about Morgan Gibbs-White‘s injury after the game against Chelsea, with fears it could be long-term.

The midfielder appeared to twist his ankle and knee slightly when under pressure from a Chelsea player and was substituted.

Nottingham Forest have only lost one game this season, which came when Gibbs-White was absent due to a suspension from his red card against Brighton.

Gibbs-White is also set to miss linking up with the England squad after getting his second call-up recently.

However, a positive injury update has now been provided.

Morgan Gibbs-White injury update and potential return date for Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest have been treated to some positive news on Morgan Gibbs-White this Tuesday morning.

According to the Athletic, Morgan Gibbs-White’s injury is not as bad as first feared.

Indeed, scans revealed that he has suffered a sprain, rather than any significant ligament damage.

Paul Taylor states that he faces a battle to be fit for the visit of Palace on Monday, October 21.

Morgan Gibbs-White’s importance at Nottingham Forest

Morgan Gibbs-White’s influence on this Nottingham Forest side cannot be understated.

He glues things together in the final third with his intricate passing and vision, as well as often helping build attacks and countering the opposition with runs from midfield.

His absence was really felt against Fulham as Forest failed to really create anything for Taiwo Awoniyi and Chris Wood in the final third.

This is far better news than any fan would have expected, especially after Nuno Santo’s worried reaction.

However, with a potential return date now for Crystal Palace, at worst he’ll miss one game.
