Nottingham Forest beat Crystal Palace 1-0 at the City Ground on Monday night to claim a first victory on home soil during 2024/25.

The Reds had taken eight points from a possible 12 away from home this season but things have been a bit of a struggle on home soil.

Forest claimed victory through another goal by Chris Wood who was praised by Ally McCoist on TalkSPORT after the game.

He’s now scored five goals in eight games this season and is very much picking up where he left off last season on the goalscoring front.

There was some intrigue in the stands on Monday as Brice Samba watched on from the stands.

The promotion-winning goalkeeper was sold to Lens shortly after the club reached the Premier League but his name is etched into folklore.

Lewis Grabban shares cryptic photo of Brice Samba after Forest clash

Grabban is working as the club’s under-18s manager these days and he was in place to watch the senior team play one of his former clubs, Palace, on Monday.

After the game, he shared a couple of snaps on his Instagram and one of them offered some real intrigue.

The first is simply a photo of Grabban and Samba renewing acquaintances having been former teammates during the promotion season.

The second is more intriguing and shows the pair on the pitch together a few years ago only the former striker has posted the eye emoji on the post.

Naturally, that has sparked some intrigue, not least because Samba was linked with a move to Forest in the summer.

Forest should bring Samba back in January

Re-signing Samba would be exceptional business by Forest and there is definitely a decision to be made there.

Matz Sels was brilliant on Monday and also played really well against Chelsea before the international break.

At 32, the Belgian isn’t a long-term option and with Samba two years his junior, he would perhaps have a few more years left at the top level.

Samba has a brilliant rapport with the fan base and his performance in the play-off semi-final second leg against Sheffield United will go down as one of the most memorable ever.

He made 133 appearances for Forest and his return in January would be unanimously popular among the fan base.
