Nuno Espirito Santo has been tactically brilliant at Nottingham Forest this season, and Ryan Yates has revealed one tweak that won them the game at Leicester.
Nottingham Forest now sit pretty in fifth position in the Premier League after a dream start to their Premier League campaign.
It was a tale of two halfs at the King Power Stadium, with the first very open and end-to-end, whilst the second was dominated by Nottingham Forest in the final third.
Chris Wood is a man on a mission this season, taking his tally to seven goals in nine games with the brace against Leicester on Friday night.
However, Nuno Espirito Santo already knew the qualities of his striker, as prior to the game he stated that Wood isn’t underrated at all when being asked the question by a reporter.
Now, it’s Nuno‘s turn to receive some praise as Ryan Yates spoke about the tactical tweak that changed the game in Nottingham Forest’s favour.

Ryan Yates hails Nuno Espirito Santo’s genius half-time tweak during Nottingham Forest vs Leicester
Nuno Espirito Santo showed he has what it takes to take teams into Europe out of nowhere with Wolves, and now he’s repeating the dose at the City Ground.
It’s decisions like the one at half-time that are the difference between just sitting in the bottom half of the table and actually surpassing expectations.
Ryan Yates noticed this as he shared exactly what the Portuguese boss told his players to do differently in the second half when speaking to Sky Sports.
When asked if Nuno Espirito Santo spoke about getting closer to Harry Winks, he said this.
“Yeah it was, that was the main of the team talk. So, we saw they were playing a box with Ndidi and the Argentine lad off our backs, and we just couldn’t get pressure on either Winks or Pereira who are extremely comfortable on the ball and good players.
“So we just dropped one of our Elanga or Hudson-Odoi at the right time to sort of match their box, and then we ended up turning the ball over a few times. We were really good on transition, so it changed the game.”
Ryan Yates’ superb start to the season at Nottingham Forest
Ryan Yates often goes unnoticed when Chris Wood is getting all the plaudits for scoring the goals, but the fans definitely appreciate what he does.
It’s clear that Yates is one of the players who really cares for the club, having put a lot of faith in him, which is something that David Prutton stated.
Kevin Nolan even said that he knew Yates would make it to the top in the Premier League after watching him in action at Notts County back in 2017.
It’s not just his on-field abilities, it’s also his leadership off the field that has benefitted many youngsters and new players trying to settle in.
