Nottingham Forest ran riot in an East Midlands derby that means far more to the Foxes than it does to the Reds.
The clappers handed to supporters were largely redundant as it was the Forest fans who could be heard making the noise – without the aid of props – on the live television coverage.
Ryan Yates scored his first Premier League goal of the 2024/25 campaign with a scrumptious effort from the edge of the box after some truly woeful defending from James Justin.
Jamie Vardy did temporarily rile the home crowd by equalising and being honest, the Foxes more than deserved parity at the half-time interval.
Forest fans have seen this film starring Steve Cooper before, however, only this time it proved far more enjoyable with him in the opposite dugout.
From the moment Chris Wood scored just minutes after the start of the second half, it was hard to imagine a scenario where Forest wouldn’t win the game.
Whatever the former Forest boss said at half-time to his Leicester players is a complete and utter mystery and clearly it didn’t have the desired impact.
That became commonplace in the Premier League for Forest under his management and thankfully that is something that has now improved under the new regime.
Robbie Earle hails Nottingham Forest star Chris Wood
The Forest talisman has gone from strength to strength since signing for the club for £15 million from Newcastle in January 2023.
He was added to the ranks initially on loan but the move was made permanent after he made three starts – much to the dismay of some intrigued supporters.
Wood has proved everyone wrong, however, and is now closing in on the club’s all-time Premier League goalscoring record.
Robbie Earle has been seriously impressed with the improvement of Wood at Forest and he’s come in for some praise after his brace against Leicester.
He told The 2 Robbies podcast: “Chris Wood, he took over. He’s already scored seven Premier League goals this season.
“I mean it’s an incredible turnaround for a player who in large has spent most of his career playing in the Championship and he’s come to the Premier League and he’s got good numbers now in the top flight.”
Forest must give Wood a new contract
The Reds head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has truly got a tune out of Wood and it’s quite amazing to see how he’s playing right now.
His first goal on Friday night was instinctive. With his back to goal, he swivelled and merely planted a shot into the bottom corner of the Leicester night.
Wood’s second was more opportunistic as he headed home after some truly awful defending from Belgium international Wout Faes.
At 32-years-old he is approaching the later stages of his career but whilst he’s in this form, it would be great for Forest to get him tied down.
Hopefully, the club are looking at getting something sorted and it would be an extremely deserved reward for Wood showcasing this level of form over a prolonged period.
