Nottingham Forest have made a wonderful start to the 2024/25 campaign and are flying high in the Premier League.

The Reds are going great guns and currently sit seventh in the Premier League after nine games.

Chris Wood has been hailed by Premier League legend Alan Shearer and in a 3-1 win over Leicester, he scored twice to take his tally for the season to seven goals.

A strong start for Forest has been built on solid foundations defensively and Nuno Espirito Santo has improved the team considerably at the back.

Alex Moreno was rousing the crowd after Friday’s win with Leicester and the left-footed nature of his game has added balance to the defensive unit.

Other players were added and for the first time in a few years, pundits and so-called experts are starting to give the recruitment at Forest the respect it deserves.

Don Hutchinson raves about Nottingham Forest star Nikola Milenkovic

The Serbian captain was a remarkable piece of business done by Forest in the summer with Milenkovic signing for just £12 million.

The central defender has been a fantastic addition to the ranks and has struck up a wonderful partnership with Murillo.

Now, Hutchinson has said some kind words about the Forest defender – suggesting he’s surprised that Forest managed to get a deal over the line.

He told Premier League Productions: “Flying. Incredible. It all stems from the Liverpool win and different personnel. They’re a really good side. They’re bought well this summer as well. Milenkovic is a terrific signing, brilliant signing, really really cheap as well.”

Milenkovic is real leader that Forest craved defensively

Nothing against Willy Boly who often played last season at central defence but he doesn’t quite have the same level of quality as Milenkovic.

At 27, the international defender is at the peak of his career and it is amazing that Forest managed to get such a competent enforcer on the cheap.

With Ryan Yates and Morgan Gibbs-White sharing the captaincy since Espirito Santo came to the club there perhaps is room in the leadership group.

Milenkovic is a talker on the pitch and it’s fair to say that he leads by example every week with his solid performances.
