Nottingham Forest beat Leicester City 3-1 in the Premier League on Friday night to climb further up the table.

The Reds won courtesy of two goals from Chris Wood and a brilliant first goal of the season for Ryan Yates.

Forest won some praise for their performance from Jamie Carragher and it’s an exciting time to be a Reds supporter.

Leicester couldn’t handle the constant threat from Forest on the counter and Forest fans serenaded Steve Cooper with his old song.

It must have been a cringeworthy moment for the former boss and he was subjected to loud boos from the home faithful at full-time.

Forest now have back-to-back home games before the international break and West Ham and Newcastle provide good chances to get more points on the board.

Alan Shearer raves about Nottingham Forest star Chris Wood

It’s quite remarkable that Wood is now behind Erling Haaland and Cole Palmer for Premier League goals scored since Nuno Espirito Santo took over from Cooper.

He’s also now second to Bryan Roy on the list of all-time Forest goalscorers in the Premier League era.

Wood has proved everyone wrong with his form for Forest and right now, he’s in red hot form whenever he pulls on the Garibaldi.

Shearer is the man currently sitting top of the pile when it comes to the most Premier League goals in history and he’s praised him after Friday’s game.

He said on Match of the Day: “He’s in the form of his life. He’s not in the form where you’re hoping you’re going to score goals, you know you’re going to go out there and score goals.

“He’s just full of confidence and two very different goals vs Leicester. It’s incredible, he wants a game every day, that’s the way he is.”

Wood can fire Forest to glory this season

Naturally, it’s important that Forest fans stay grounded but there is nothing wrong with simply enjoying the moment as a fan of the club right now.

Leicester isn’t a big rivalry for Forest but nonetheless it was nice to get one over the former boss and an East Midlands rival at the same.

The county is very red and white at the moment and Forest fans can perhaps feel comfortable suggesting that a relegation battle won’t be on the cards this season.

Wood is in brilliant form right now and having a proven goalscorer in wonderful form makes Forest the envy of many clubs.

It’s going to be hard for Forest to maintain a sixth place finish in the top flight but a top half finish looks achievable at the moment.
