The ‘priority’ transfer Nottingham Forest will target in the January transfer window

Nottingham Forest already have their eyes on strengthening in the January transfer window after an impressive start to their Premier League campaign.

Nuno Espirito Santo conducted his business well in the summer transfer window, and Nottingham Forest are now bearing the fruit of that in the Premier League this season.

Nikola Milenkovic is the prime example of finding a diamond in the rough. He’s already established himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet and has caught the eye of many pundits.

Don Hutchinson has admitted he’s really impressed with the deal to bring Milenkovic to the City Ground, and can’t believe how cheap the £12 million fee was.

However, that’s not been the only impressive signing, as Alex Moreno, Elliot Anderson and a couple of others have already impressed as well.

Now, it appears as if Forest are on the hunt for their next gem, and John Percy has revealed the position that will be on their radar.

John Percy reveals ‘priority’ Nottingham Forest transfer for January

John Percy is the go-to man for transfers in the Premier League at times, and he happens to specialise in Nottingham Forest as well.

Interestingly, he recently provided a January transfer update on the priority position Nottingham Forest will target when the transfer window opens.

Speaking on the Shut Up and Show More Football Nottingham Forest podcast, Percy stated that Nuno Espirito Santo has a striker as the priority for January.

“I think a striker has got to be the priority. They obviously looked in the summer and sort of rained back a bit and thought, let’s just wait, which we’ve all said at the time was another sign of the evolution of the club and maturity. But I think that’s going to be the number one priority.”

Do Nottingham Forest need another striker?

Well, the answer is yes.

Taiwo Awoniyi and Chris Wood have been tasked with leading the line for Nottingham Forest this season, but only the latter has been able to have an effect on games.

Wood currently finds himself on seven goals in nine games in the top flight, which has resulted in him being put up for the Premier League Player of the Month award for October.

However, the same can’t be said about Awoniyi, who has been used sparsely. When he was called upon to start against Fulham he just wasn’t able to influence the game.
