When sources are saying Edu will start work with Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis

Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is a busy man at the moment, with Edu Gaspar looking like he will help with the multi-club model he has built.

Evangelos Marinakis has had his fair share of issues with the FA already this season after being handed a five-game stadium ban for his actions against Brighton.

Nuno Espirito Santo was also handed a three-game ban for his verbal abuse towards the official, though he has already served his suspension.

Nottingham Forest have Rui Silva partly to thank for their run of three wins in the Premier League, as he’s been the man deputising for Nuno on the sidelines.

However, Marinakis has been dominating the news recently after reports of him hiring former Arsenal chief Edu came to light, and there’s a potential start date.

When Edu Gaspar will start work with Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis

Marinakis currently has Rio Ave, Nottingham Forest and Olympiacos as the three clubs he owns in his multi-club model, and now Edu could be about to help on that front.

It remains to be seen as to exactly what role Edu will take up under Marinakis’ watch, but Forest fans will be hoping he can have an influence at the City Ground after seeing his work at Arsenal.

In a report from David Ornstein in the Athletic, he states that anonymous sources have said that Edu Gaspar will start work as soon as he is released from Arsenal.

It’s stated that contracts have yet to be signed and the exact role still needs to be finalised, but there is an agreement in place that will see Edu take on a fresh challenge under the Greek businessman.

And sources with knowledge of the situation, who are not authorised to speak publicly, anticipate Edu starting work for Marinakis as soon as he is released from his duties at the Emirates Stadium.

Edu Gaspar’s history with two familiar Nottingham Forest faces

Interestingly, Edu actually signed Matt Turner and Nuno Tavares for Arsenal during his time there.

However, the pair didn’t have the best of times at Nottingham Forest, and the former is currently on loan at fellow Premier League club Crystal Palace.

Nuno Tavares has gone from strength to strength since moving to Italian club Lazio, with a new £58m price tag on his head amid leading the way for assists in the Serie A.

Turner hasn’t had the best of times at Crystal Palace this season due to Dean Henderson getting the nod in-between the sticks, and he wasn’t quite able to sustain his place at Forest either under Nuno.
