Morgan Gibbs-White was superb last weekend against West Ham United, but the same can’t be said about his performance earlier on today against Newcastle.
Newcastle United went up another level in the second half at the City Ground and couldn’t be stopped, as three goals put the game beyond the reach of Nottingham Forest.
The result didn’t change much, other than not gaining ground on the top two, as Forest still occupy third position which is an outstanding achievement.
No one really stood out for the Reds apart from potentially Nicolas Dominguez and Murillo for his goal, but there were a couple of players who did look below-par.

Morgan Gibbs-White’s performance in numbers vs Newcastle
Morgan Gibbs-White’s fitness perhaps showed a little bit in this one, as there was something that wasn’t quite right. He looked quite rusty at times, with his passes often going astray.
The midfielder came off after 59 minutes. He managed 33 touches, a passing accuracy percentage of 68, failed to complete any of his crosses and long balls, won six of his 12 duels, committed two fouls, lost possession 10 times and made three tackles (SofaScore).
It seems as if the international break is coming at the perfect time for Nottingham Forest, as Gibbs-White can hopefully get up to fitness in potential performances he has with England, as well as rest slightly.

These Nottingham Forest fans, when speaking on X, all said the same thing about how bad Morgan Gibbs-White’s display was against Newcastle.
