Nottingham Forest are riding the crest of a wave during the 2024/25 campaign.

With 10 games of the season now completed, Forest have won five and drawn four of those matches.

The Reds sit third in the table ahead of today’s game against Newcastle and will hope to continue the momentum.

It’s been a somewhat strange Premier League campaign so far.

A number of teams who weren’t expected to fly high are producing the goods in the opening stages.

Forest are joined in the top six by Brighton at the moment, with Fulham doing well in seventh.

The Reds have Chris Wood in fine form and due to his eight goals, he was given a comical new nickname by Shay Given last week.

Gabby Agbonlahor praises Forest but supporters won’t be happy

Pundits are starting to take Forest seriously and that makes a refreshing change.

Gary Lineker called himself an ‘idiot’ for his pre-season prediction about Forest and he’s not the only one.

Robbie Earle has already changed his relegation tip too and it’s nice to see the club getting the recognition the performances have merited.

Agbonahor put Ola Aina in his Team of the Week after the win over West Ham and yesterday he made a positive prediction about Forest.

He said on X: “Brighton, Fulham, Notts Forest gonna a say on top 7 this season! Impressive teams.”

Naturally using the term ‘Notts Forest’ will rile supporters and this faux pas will be something that Agbonlahor will learn from!

Gary Neville has been ridiculed for using the term before and Agbonlahor is unlikely to be the last to make this annoying error.

Why Nottingham Forest fans hate to be called ‘Notts Forest’

In truth, there is no official reason.

However, come to Nottingham Forest and use the word Notts in front of Forest and you’re asking for trouble!

Although Forest and County haven’t ever really had a massive rivalry on the pitch it just feels untoward that the term Notts would be used about Forest.

County claims the Notts tag and it should be used exclusively when discussing that particular club.

Agbonlahor’s mindset is a positive one and his comments won’t have gone unnoticed among supporters.

However, some local knowledge lessons about football in Nottingham certainly wouldn’t go amiss…
