Nottingham Forest will be pleased with the business they conducted over the summer, but one signing hasn’t been able to get much of a look-in and a rumour emerged recently.
With Nottingham Forest enjoying so much success and consistency in their start to the Premier League campaign, there are always going to be unhappy players who feel they could be playing more.
Nuno Espirito Santo faces a selection headache week in, week out, with Elliot Anderson’s bench role in recent times being an example of how competitive it’s been.
The international break provides the opportunity for players to impress Nuno on a more personal level, with Anderson, Morgan Gibbs-White and other stars heading off.
There was one rumour involving a summer signing that emerged over the past couple of weeks, but that all looks to be false information as Graeme Bailey provided an update for us.

Nottingham Forest never made a promise to Carlos Miguel
There were rumours circulating recently that Nottingham Forest had promised Carlos Miguel a starting spot in the side when he joined in the summer.
As we know, Matz Sels has established himself as the number one, and rightly so. He’s put in a number of match-winning performances that have often gone unnoticed with Chris Wood scoring the goals.

This hasn’t helped Carlos Miguel‘s case, as he’s only appeared once for Forest this season, which came in the Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle United.
Speaking exclusively to Nottingham Forest News, Graeme Bailey has revealed the truth about the so-called promise made by the club.
“I know that’s not true. I spoke to Forest and the plan was he was never promised the number one spot, that’s 100% not true. He knew he was coming in for a battle, but I know for a fact he wasn’t promised that.”

Matz Sels deserves his flowers this season
Matz Sels has been slammed for being a liability at times in his Nottingham Forest career, but this season he’s really put his foot down and deservedly holds the first choice goalkeeper spot.
Of course, Sels being named in October’s Team of the Month showed how far he’s come and just how important he’s been to the Reds this season.
Oliver Glasner even hailed Sels when Forest played Crystal Palace earlier on this season, calling him the difference between the two sides on the day.
Miguel just has to stay patient and show Nuno he’s ready in training, as an injury could happen at any time for Sels, especially as he’s away on international duty too.
