Nottingham Forest fans deliver reaction as Steve Cooper is sacked by Leicester City

For the second time in under a year, Steve Cooper finds himself out of work and Nottingham Forest fans have been intrigued by today’s developments in the Premier League.

Last December, Cooper’s two-and-a-half-year tenure as the Forest manager came crashing to a halt, following a 2-0 defeat at home to Tottenham.

To some, it felt harsh but the reality was that Forest under Cooper had taken just a single point from his final seven matches in charge to threaten the team’s Premier League status.

Cooper is a renowned manager in the Championship with a proven track record. However, his team’s style of play in the Premier League was ordinary at best – and now there will be a sense of deja vu for the head coach.

Leicester City sack Steve Cooper

After just 12 games – including a defeat to Forest – the end is upon Cooper with Leicester pulling the plug on his time as the club’s head coach.

He saw his team beaten 2-1 by Chelsea yesterday and Leicester are perilously sat in 16th place with just two points between them and the bottom three.

Cooper always looked doomed to fail from the off at the King Power Stadium. Leicester fans typically dislike Forest and it’s not unfair to say that Cooper didn’t pull up any trees with the Reds when it came to the Premier League.

It’s perhaps surprising that the club have made the decision to axe the boss after the first game back following a two-week break but Leicester are now looking for a new leader.

Forest fans react to Steve Cooper sacking

It would appear that as Forest fans we can go back to being huge fans of Steve Cooper once again now that he no longer manages a rival club.

Another fan wrote: “Did Leicester fans expect to be challenging for Europe still or something? They’re a newly promoted side. Cooper got to a decent stage in the League Cup as well, not even sure his stock’s taken that bit of a hit really.”

Another intrigued Forest fan claimed: “Not surprised at all.”

Forest fans will forever be indebted to Steve Cooper

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with being delighted with Cooper for everything he’s achieved at Forest but feeling that his time was up at the club.

Cooper did a great job at Forest and he did something that no other Forest manager could muster in 23 years.

The former head coach will always have that day at Wembley and nobody will take that away from him – along with the first season when the Reds stayed in the top flight.

Cooper was never going to be backed by Forest fans whilst he was at Leicester but now the fan base can wish him well for the future with a guilt-free mindset.
