For Nottingham Forest, the recruitment work doesn’t stop behind the scenes.
The Reds prioritised quality over quantity in the summer and it’s a process that has helped the club climb to sixth in the Premier League.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 6 | 13 | 6 | 4 | 3 | 16 | 13 | 3 | 22 |
That position is unlikely to last, of course, and with Manchester City and Manchester United to play in the coming days, things might change a little bit.
However, it’s nice not to be looking at the bottom three and fearing the worst, with 22 points from 13 games right now.
One blemish from the summer window was the lack of a striker coming into the club.
Santiago Gimenez rejected Forest more than once, whilst other players also turned their noses up at Forest’s advances.
Eddie Nketiah chose Crystal Palace after speaking with Oliver Glasner, whilst Omar Marmoush said no on deadline day.
With Chris Wood banging them in, Forest aren’t desperate to sign a striker but it’s fair to say that with Taiwo Awoniyi out of form, there is a lot of pressure on the Kiwi talisman right now.

Nottingham Forest want Evan Ferguson transfer
The Reds are going to attack the market in January and once again it will be a case of quality over quantity.
A number of players might be available to leave the club and in order to plug some gaps, the Reds might go in search of new players of their own.
Last week, it was claimed that Evan Ferguson would be available for transfer and it appears that Forest are keen on that.
We exclusively revealed that Brighton might not loan Ferguson to Forest because of the form of the current striker, Wood.
However, fresh reports are claiming that Forest are actually weighing up the signing of the Republic of Ireland striker on a permanent basis instead.
Ferguson has struggled for games this season after returning from an ankle injury that kept him out of the first three games.
He’s started just once in the Premier League and scored his only goal of the campaign to date in a 2-2 draw with Wolves back in October.
Squawka shows why Forest would want Ferguson with the physical player actually winning more ground duels than Awoniyi last season in the Premier League.
What Alexis MacAllister said about Evan Ferguson
The pair played together before MacAllister signed for Liverpool from Brighton.
It’s fair to say that he’s a big fan of the young performer and called him ‘amazing’ to BBC Sport when quizzed on the player’s potential.
Forest would definitely welcome another striker and a player with the profile of Ferguson would be a superb addition to the ranks.
Signing him won’t come easy, with figures of £60 million quoted when it comes to Brighton placing a valuation on his head.
At 20, Brighton might not want to cash in on Ferguson just yet and as a result, Forest might be left frustrated when it comes to this particular pursuit.
