Nottingham Forest will go into the January transfer window in a very strong position, given their impressive position in the Premier League.
After Forest beat Tottenham on Boxing Day, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side earned their fourth consecutive victory in the Premier League, strengthening their position in the Champions League positions.

Espirito Santo’s impressive run this season can be attributed to many factors. Anthony Elanga praised Espirito Santo’s pre-season that helped the City Ground side start the season with momentum, whilst Evangelos Marinakis’ transfer dealings deserve credit.
Elliot Anderson joined from Newcastle in July and has transformed the spine of the Forest squad alongside new centre-back Nikola Milenkovic.
However, it seems that Marinakis is looking to strengthen in another area of his Forest side that is potentially weaker than other positions.

Nottingham Forest eye Pervis Estupinan
Neco Williams has adapted brilliantly to the left-back role for Espirito Santo, so much so that Spurs fans criticised Brennan Johnson after his display against Forest’s Welsh fullback.
Unfortunately for Williams, though, a report from Bolavip has suggested that Forest are looking at Brighton left-back Pervis Estupinan and could make a move in January.
The report suggested that the move could be Estupinan’s “biggest leap” of his career so far, given Forest’s current League position in comparison to Brighton.
The Ecuadorian left-back has played 17 times for Brighton this season and is contracted until 2027, meaning that the South-coast club will need a significant fee to let their star fullback go.
Whilst he would be an exciting addition to the Forest squad, his arrival would spell bad news for the future of Alex Moreno.
Alex Moreno’s stay at Nottingham Forest is at risk
Recent reports suggested that Moreno’s Forest loan deal is unlikely to be made permanent in January, which makes even more sense given the reported interest in Estupinan.
Moreno dropped out of the Forest manager’s lineup in Forest’s win over Manchester United and has yet to find his way back into the side with Williams’ strong form.
If Estupinan is brought in, he would likely command a starting role in Espirito Santo’s side. Williams will find a space in the squad due to his versatility, leaving Moreno at a crossroads in regards to his Forest future.
Clearly, Marinakis has targetted left-back as an area of improvement for Forest, but it seems that Moreno isn’t the preferred option despite the ease of a potential deal.
