Forest had reached the quarter-final by a series of brilliant defensive display, with goals often snatched against the run of play.

The German club, who held a 2-1 lead going into the game, were simply unstoppable on the night as they secured a 7-2 aggregate win due to a 5-1 win in the return leg.

Steve Stone scored the only Forest goal against a Bayern Munich side that had the likes of Jean-Pierre Papin, Jurgen Klinsmann, Lothar Matthaus and Oliver Kahn.
It wasn’t all doom and gloom for Forest though, as they recorded their highest ever receipts in that game and the record still stands today.
Nottingham Forest counted it to be £499,099, which is a staggering amount.
