Nottingham Forest are not only second position in the Premier League, but they’re also the only team to beat Arne Slot’s Liverpool in the league.

Nuno Espirito Santo heads into 2025 in a position that he probably never thought he’d be in at any point in his career, especially not at Nottingham Forest.

The Portuguese boss did a fantastic job at Wolves taking them deep into the knockout stages of the Europa League, but this is on a different level.

Evangelos Marinakis has long spoken about his desire to see Nottingham Forest back in the big time, and he may just get his wish this season.

Being the only team to beat a dominant Liverpool side is an achievement in itself, and it’s clearly something that’s still bothering Arne Slot.

Arne Slot gives Nottingham Forest another mention

Arne Slot has made a habit of mentioning Nottingham Forest since the loss at Anfield.

The Liverpool boss used Forest in a team talk earlier on this season when the Reds played Brighton and Hove Albion, and that’s not the only time.

Speaking to Sky Sports after Liverpool’s emphatic 5-0 win over West Ham United on Sunday, Slot was visibly frustrated about picking up the only loss of the season against Forest.

“My 2024? Only one loss, and that was Nottingham Forest.”

Arne Slot’s slightly harsh comment on Nottingham Forest

Arne Slot was almost embarrassed to lose to Forest earlier on this season, as he made a slightly disrespectful comment.

“Losing Saturday was a blow and to be 1-0 down early tonight, you are wondering how we react.

“But if you can play so good it is – I won’t say a disgrace – unbelievable you lose to Forest at home if you can play like this today.”
