Nottingham Forest look to have signed an absolute gem when it comes to the addition of Elliot Anderson.
The attacking midfielder signed for £35 million from Newcastle United in the summer and he’s wasted no time in making an impact on the team.
Alan Shearer has praised Anderson for his Forest performances this season and perhaps he’s one Newcastle fan who wishes he was still at St James’ Park.
Anderson has been very complimentary of his teammates this season but that is perhaps doing himself an injustice given how well he’s started 2024/25.
Forest have come a long way this season and the hope will be that the club can keep kicking on – with Anderson playing a central role – in the second half of the season.

Elliot Anderson picks standout moment of 2024
The versatile midfield player has been a breath of fresh air at Forest this season and there is so much potential left to unearth when it comes to Anderson.
It was a bit of a shock when the Reds chose to fork out £35 million for Anderson but it’s easy to see why the powers that be at Forest valued him so highly.
Shortly after Anderson signed, Newcastle parted with £20 million to sign Odysseas Vlachodimos and it was clear the two clubs worked to combat the PSR criteria.
Eddie Howe didn’t want to sell Anderson and on his form of the first half of 2024/25, it’s easy to see why.
With the New Year now upon us, Forest stars have been asked by the media team to choose their standout moment of 2024.
Anderson was in no doubt as to what his best moment was and simply said, ‘Signing for Forest’ in a heartwarming answer given to the question.
The 22-year-old has been brilliant since signing for the club and has five assists to his name this season having played central midfield and in the number 10 role.
Anderson is a star of the future in Forest squad
The Reds really have struck gold with the signing of one of England’s top talents.
Anderson might have been a surprise addition to the Forest ranks when he was added but nobody is left wondering why the club made the decision to sign him anymore.
| Elliot Anderson stats 2024/25 | Total |
| Appearances | 18 |
| Assists | 5 |
| Tackles | 44 |
| Dribbles | 22 |
| Key passes | 27 |
The player has stunned everyone with his performances and it’s easy to see why he earned the nickname of Geordie Maradona at Newcastle.
Anderson is quite clearly a future star of the game and it might only be a matter of time before he gets called up for the England national team.
