Nottingham Forest have been brilliant during the first half of the 2024/25 campaign and sit in third place in the Premier League table.

The Reds have defied the odds to throw themselves into contention for a place in Europe next season.

Nuno Espirito Santo has been praised by pundits for his efforts and the Forest head coach deserves the utmost respect.

Evangelos Marinakis almost sacked Espirito Santo twice last season but now he must be extremely thankful that he chose not to.

Forest have had a number of star performers during the current season and Alan Shearer has been very impressed with Elliot Anderson.

Chris Wood has 12 goals for the campaign and Matz Sels leads the way when it comes to clean sheets in the Premier League.

Morgan Gibbs-White has really kicked on during the last six weeks or so and secured five goal contributions in the month of December alone.

His goal against Everton last time out was just mesmerising, with a trademark turn followed by a stunning finish beyond Jordan Pickford.

Foster hasn’t only praised him but he’s now claimed that he would place him in his Premier League Team of the Season so far.

He said on the Cycling GK Podcast: “I’m going to pick Morgan Gibbs-White. Someone who can do both parts in midfield. I said this last year, and I’m sure I did, Morgan Gibbs-White, watch him play, he knows his job role right and he gets back to defend. He gets back phenomenally well.

“I’m putting Morgan Gibbs-White in there because so far this season he’s been phenomenal. They paid a lot of money for him, a lot of expectation and he’s delivering.”

Forest should get Gibbs-White tied to new contract

Given what he’s done for Forest in two-and-a-half years at the football club, it’s no secret that he will have admiring glances from elsewhere.

As a result, Forest have to get the player tied down to a new deal and ensure that he remains at the club ahead of his best years.

Qualifying for Europe would definitely help Forest keep hold of Gibbs-White and that will be the aim of the game for this season on current form.

With Chris Wood and Ola Aina in talks over a new deal, it must be in the club’s mind to offer Gibbs-White an extension and hopefully, Forest can make it happen.
