When Nottingham Forest signed Ola Aina in the summer of 2023 not too many supporters anticipated him making quite the impact which he has.
The Nigerian checked in after departing Serie A outfit Torino having previously had mediocre spells with Fulham, Hull and Chelsea in England.
Supporters needn’t have worried though and from day one Aina has endeared himself to the supporters with his brilliant performances and the personality he brings to the Forest squad.
Ian Wright praised Aina earlier this season and he’s really taken his game to the next level over the last 12 months; operating as a right-back and a left-back.
One pundit has claimed that Aina would be a good fit for Aston Villa but Forest have been trying tooth and nail to try and keep him at the club for the foreseeable.

Rob Dorsett delivers exciting Ola Aina update
This one will excite the Forest fan base and it appears that Aina will be sticking with the club for a little while longer yet.
Dorsett is the Chief Football Correspondent for Sky Sports and last night he delivered an exciting update on the whole situation surrounding Aina’s future at Forest.
He said: “When it comes to Ola Aina, they’re not only negotiating when it comes to an improved contract but they will automatically trigger a one-year extension that they have in the club’s favour at the end of this season.
“Whilst his current deal expires in the summer, he’s going to be here for another year, that will happen. That’s hot off the press from my sources.”
Aina has made 42 appearances for Forest since checking in at the club and has scored twice this season during games against Brentford and West Ham.
Forest now get Aina tied to a long-term contract quickly
At 28-years-old, Aina is likely to be in his prime in the next year or so and Forest must tie him down to something a little bit more long-term.
The man with 40 caps for Nigeria has been excellent when called upon in the Reds outfit and last year he helped his country reach the African Cup of Nations Final.
Aina starred for his country in that competition and he returned to Forest with fire in his heart to really kick on and establish himself at the football club.
The versatile full-back is often the player brining the vibes to the dressing room and Callum Hudson-Odoi claims that it’s Aina who gets players fired up for games.
His presence in the dressing room and around the players doesn’t go unnoticed and hopefully a deal can be struck for an extended contract very soon.
