Nottingham Forest to battle AC Milan and Juventus for Serie A striker

A striker looks likely to be on the shortlist for Nottingham Forest this month with the January transfer window in full swing.

Chris Wood is a man in red-hot form this season and his 12 goals have propelled the Reds to third place in the Premier League table.

In reserve, Forest have Taiwo Awoniyi and he impressed Jamie Carragher after scoring his first goal of the season against Wolves on Monday night.

Elsewhere, there is nothing in the way of a striker at the City Ground and an injury to Wood or Awoniyi could leave the team extremely short.

Igor Jesus has been linked with Forest and the Botafogo striker looks like being a wanted man during the transfer window.

Forest also like Mathys Tel although he’s not really considered a centre-forward and is more an option that can operate anywhere across the front three.

Nottingham Forest want Udinese striker Lorenzo Lucca

According to the front page of today’s edition of Tuttosport, Forest are one of the clubs eyeing a move to sign Udinese talisman Lucca.

The striker is valued at £16 million and Forest would have to battle with Milan, Juventus and Napoli if they were to complete the signing this month.

Lucca signed for Udinese from Posa in 2023 and has previously spent time playing for Ajax in the Eredivisie and Palermo.

The striker won his first Italy cap back in October and during the 2024/25 campaign, he’s bagged nine goals in all competitions.

At 24-years-old Lucca is starting to attract the attention of bigger clubs and it would appear that Forest are placing themselves in the mix to sign him too.

Lorenzo Lucca compared to Erling Haaland

Standing at almost 6ft 6in the striker clearly has a powerful presence to bring to an attack and Footboom has compared him to Erling Haaland.

The City striker has been in pretty good form again this season even if the reigning champions currently sit six points behind Forest in the league table.

Lucca appears to be sought-after this month and in terms of his ability, there is a clear clue that he likes to get stuck in from an attacking position.

The striker will be suspended this weekend for picking up a fifth yellow card last time out and the striker plays with his heart on his sleeve.

At 24, Lucca looks like a useful striker who knows his way to go and perhaps there is a sense from a Forest perspective that he can add something a bit different than Wood and Awoniyi.
