Nottingham Forest have a number of players producing above expectations this season with things going extremely well in the Premier League.
The Reds are currently third in the top-flight after picking up 40 points from the 20 games that have been played during the 2024/25 campaign so far.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s team face Liverpool on Tuesday night and Graeme Souness thinks Forest are title contenders if a win can be secured during that fixture.
Yesterday, the FA Cup took centre stage at the City Ground. Forest defeated Luton Town 2-0, with former Forest assistant manager Paul Trollope taking caretaker charge of the Hatters.
The game was a chance for Espirito Santo to look at a lot of his fringe players, with the regular stars earning a rest ahead of the huge home game on Tuesday night.
This season the squad has been brimming with quality across the squad. With that in mind, the big priority for the current transfer window is to ensure that the star players remain at the club when things slam shut.

Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga viewed as future star signing
In the summer, Newcastle made it clear they wanted Elanga. Ultimately, the Magpies left it too late in the day on transfer deadline day to get a deal over the line and their search for a new wide option continues.
According to The Sun, Newcastle remain keen on Elanga. It’s anticipated that they will view him as a star signing in the future with other players being lined up in the short term.
Elanga started to really get going this season in December. He scored in three consecutive games with strikes against Aston Villa, Brentford and Tottenham over the Christmas period.
Elanga, 22, is one of the fastest players in the Premier League. His pace makes him a constant nightmare for defenders and in his current form, he’s showcasing how important he is to Forest.
Forest can keep Elanga with European football next season
It’s not going to be easy for Forest to keep hold of all of their top stars but qualifying for Europe next season would certainly put them in good shape.
Elanga is far from the finished article as a player and being at Forest and playing every week will only be aiding his development.
In some sense, it’s good that big clubs are keeping tabs on the star players at Forest. It showcases that the Reds are doing something right and ultimately are enjoying a solid season.
Elanga seems like a good character in the Forest dressing room. As a result, the Reds won’t want to lose him anytime soon and hopefully finishing in the European places will convince him to stay put.
