Nottingham Forest face Liverpool tomorrow looking to surprisingly propel themselves into the Premier League title race.
The Reds have taken 40 points from 20 games but right now sit six points adrift of Liverpool who have been the standout team during the 2024/25 campaign.

Forest beat Luton in the FA Cup on Saturday. That result made it seven wins in succession for the Reds and has set up a fourth-round trip to Exeter City who Forest haven’t played since 1951.
Arne Slot has mentioned it previously that Forest beat Liverpool back in September. Callum Hudson-Odoi scored the game’s only goal and right now, the Reds are the only team to claim all three points against the league leaders this season.
Ahead of tomorrow’s game, the talking has started again. This time, Slot has been on the attack, choosing to praise one Forest player who essentially epitomises what the team is all about.

Arne Slot hails Nottingham Forest star Chris Wood
It’s been a great season for Wood. He’s scored 12 goals during the campaign to become the all-time leading goalscorer for Forest when it comes to games in the Premier League.
Now, he’s been on the end of some praise from Liverpool boss Slot. The Dutch incumbent has been taking his pre-match press conference earlier today and had some kind words for Forest and Wood.
He said: “They work so hard without the ball. Chris Wood is a great example of that.”
Wood has followed up his 14 Premier League goals during 2023/24 with 12 more so far this season and it’s fair to say he looks well on course to eclipse the number he got during the last campaign.
Wood deserves new Forest contract
It does look as though Wood is getting close to agreeing on a new Forest deal. This would be big news for the club and would take some of the pressure off getting a new striker this month.
Wood, 33, is like a fine wine. Many people thought he’d be on the way out at this stage of his career but he’s defying his years and growing in confidence with the more football he plays.
It’s interesting that other managers are starting to take notice of Wood. Forest have a wealth of good players who are much younger than the striker but Slot has felt compelled to mention the talisman.
Wood will be a huge asset for Forest against Liverpool tomorrow night. With Morgan Gibbs-White, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga likely to be behind him, it’s hard to bet against the striker adding to his total against the leaders.
