Nottingham Forest are trying hard behind the scenes to sign an attacking player before the transfer window closes in early February.
It will very much be a case of quality over quantity for Nuno Espirito Santo this month, with Forest sitting in third place in the Premier League table at the moment.

Taiwo Awoniyi has been linked with a move to West Ham this month. The striker has struggled for game time with Chris Wood among the goals and that has hampered his performance levels.
Evangelos Marinakis does want to see a striker added to the ranks this month. However, it’s unlikely that the club will do anything outrageous with results going so well on the pitch.

Nottingham Forest given green light to sign Marcus Edwards
The Reds need to ensure that they’re in a position to sign a player or two as the window dwindles to a close and it would appear that work is being done behind the scenes.
Forest have been linked with Marcus Edwards this month. He’s fallen out of favour at Sporting CP and according to Record in Portugal, the club are desperate to get rid of him before the window closes.
It’s claimed that they’re now at the point where they don’t care how he leaves. That has opened the door for a possible loan deal, whilst bids around £7-10 million would now be placed under consideration.
Edwards has only featured 10 times this season, scoring three goals. He’s been with Sporting CP since 2022 when he left Portuguese outfit Vitoria Guimaraes.
Edwards could be ideal for Forest
The beauty of signing Edwards is that it would give Forest something that they don’t currently have. Forest have some brilliant wingers but none of them possess a genuine ability to chop inside on their left foot.
Edwards is a left-footed player and has been compared to Lionel Messi previously. He came through the academy ranks with Tottenham but played just one game during his time at the club under Mauricio Pochettino.
Edwards might not be in the best of form right now and for whatever reason things aren’t working out at Sporting. However, he’s not a bad player and at 24-years-old, he certainly first the profile for what Forest have tried to do over the last 18 months.
