Nottingham Forest will likely go in search of some new attackers this month. The Reds will, however, prioritise quality over quantity much like the club did in the summer.
It’s no secret that Evangelos Marinakis wants to sign a new striker. Chris Wood is the club’s leading goalscorer with 14 strikes this season but there is very little in the way of competition for him.
Taiwo Awoniyi is being linked with West Ham. Graham Potter needs a new centre-forward and the Nigerian player is likely to be offloaded this month if Forest can identify a replacement.
Mathys Tel is one player linked with Forest but he looks like staying put. Elsewhere, Igor Jesus is a South American player who has been courted by Forest ahead of the current transfer window.

Update issued on Nottingham Forest linked Santiago Gimenez
It was the saga that rumbled on all summer. Feyenoord striker Gimenez rejected Forest on three occasions last summer, choosing to play Champions League football for the Eredivisie outfit.
There will come a time when the striker does leave, however, with a top European league on his radar. That time doesn’t look like being this summer though with Fabrizio Romano issuing an update.
The transfer guru said: Feyenoord consider Santiago Gimenez not available for sale in January. Despite recent links, Feyenoord insist on keeping all of their top players.”
Gimenez has fought back well from a serious thigh injury earlier this season. He’s scored 13 goals in 17 appearances and also managed to register three assists during 2024/25.
Forest might prise Gimenez away next summer
Interestingly, Forest might become a very attractive proposition for signings next summer – especially if European football of some sort can be achieved with a top-eight finish.
It’s only natural that Gimenez rejected Forest really. He has some top clubs chasing him and the harsh reality is that the Reds only managed to stay up last season on the final day of the campaign.
If Forest can achieve European football at some point, however, Gimenez might be interested. It might be exactly what Forest need in order to prise genuinely top players to the club in the future and it will be interesting to see what happens in the summer.
For all we know, Forest might have moved on from Gimenez. That does feel unlikely though and it will be fascinating to see if he becomes a top target next summer should the Reds qualify for Europe.
