Nottingham Forest are leaving no stone unturned in a quest to sign new players this month and have now bid for a Premier League forward.
Evangelos Marinakis wants to bring a new forward to Forest this month. The Reds sit third in the Premier League and are on the cusp of something very special going into the final months of the 2024/25 campaign.
Mathys Tel has been linked with Forest. Although he’s been praised by Harry Kane, he won’t be heading to Forest this month as he looks to give things a proper go in Germany with Bayern Munich and make a decision in the summer.
Forest beat Southampton 3-2 on Sunday to maintain an impressive run of form. With a few days now until the next game away at Bournemouth, the Reds look to be increasing their efforts to land new players this month.

Brentford tell Nottingham Forest what they must do to sign Yoane Wissa
According to The Athletic, Forest have bid £22 million to try and prise Wissa away from Brentford this month. The striker will be out of contract in the summer of 2026 and with a new one not forthcoming his valuation might dwindle.
However, the Bees look to be willing to take that risk. They’ve informed Forest that the bid doesn’t meet their valuation and advised that the Reds must up the ante in order to land the versatile forward this month.
Wissa has been in fine goalscoring form this season. The 28-year-old has bagged 11 goals in 19 games with only Erling Haaland, Cole Palmer, Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak, Bryan Mbuemo and Forest star Chris Wood scoring more.
Wissa was signed by Brentford from Lorient in France. He moved to London ahead of the club’s maiden season in the Premier League and has bagged 41 goals in 133 appearances for the Bees, proving important to Thomas Frank’s team.
Wissa signing would be bad news for Taiwo Awoniyi
There is an argument that Forest might use Wissa out wide but given he plays as a striker more often than not, it’s perhaps wise to presume he’s a replacement for Awoniyi.
Forest signed Awoniyi from Union Berlin for just £18 million. He’s more than repaid that fee with his 11 goals in the 2022/23 campaign going a long way towards keeping the Reds in the Premier League.
West Ham are keen to sign Awoniyi this month. It’s not clear whether a loan or a permanent deal would be the preferred choice but if Wissa signs, surely Forest would welcome a sale.
The Reds will want to maintain their lofty league position going into the business end of the season. Signing Wissa will certainly help with that and it remains to be seen whether a breakthrough can be made in the negotiations.
