Nottingham Forest will go in search of some new players before the transfer window closes in a week – with quality over quantity the order of the day.

Attacking players are being sought on Trentside. Evangelos Marinakis has been keen all month to sign a forward with no stone being unturned in the quest to bolster the Forest squad.

Matheus Cunha was linked with Forest last week. The Wolves striker appears to have an uncertain future at Molineux with the versatile forward stalling on a new contract with the club.

Cunha isn’t the only domestic forward linked with the Reds. Forest have also taken an internet in Yoane Wissa, however, the Brentford player is highly unlikely to leave this month.

Although Forest want to maintain their position in third place in the Premier League, the club will only strengthen if the right player is available with the morale pretty high in the squad.

Incoming business will be the priority for the rest of the window. However, there are still a few players at the City Ground who Forest would like to hook up with other clubs and it remains to be seen if that can come to fruition.

Nottingham Forest outcast Emmanuel Dennis wanted by Rangers

It’s been claimed that Sheffield Wednesday also want to sign Dennis this month. However, that is a complex deal and one that might prove way too costly for Danny Rohl to complete.

Now, according to The Sun, Rangers are keen to take a chance on Dennis before the transfer window closes. It’s believed that the player also has interest emerging from both the Championship and overseas.

Dennis earns £40,000-a-week at Forest and that is proving a stumbling block. The Reds would naturally like some of that salary taken care of by any club that takes him and that’s not going to be easy for many clubs.

Dennis signed for Forest in a deal worth £10 million in the summer of 2022. He’d scored 10 goals in his first season playing Premier League football but this always felt like a deal that hadn’t been sanctioned by Steve Cooper.

During 2022/23 he started just six Premier League games, scoring twice and claiming two assists. He came on as a substitute in the 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on the final day of that season and hasn’t played for Forest since.

Dennis is sole survivor of unwanted Forest group

For many years it became a running joke that Forest had that many players, they were forced into having a group labelled the ‘bomb squad’ who were deemed surplus and not wanted as part of training by the head coach.

Dennis is now the only member of that particular group. Lewis O’Brien is potentially featuring as part of it, although he’s likely still keeping fit away from the club after enjoying a tough season with LAFC in the MLS.

O’Brien is wanted by four EFL clubs this month. He’s also on decent money at Forest and much like Dennis, it’s going to prove tricky to find a club to take him off their hands too.

Forest have done great work in the transfer windows in recent times. Now, it’s important that the bomb squad doesn’t make an unwanted comeback, making it imperative that Dennis is offloaded in some capacity before the window closes.
