Nottingham Forest thrashed Brighton 7-0 at the City Ground as the team issued the perfect response to last weekend’s defeat against Bournemouth.
The Reds went into the game still sitting pretty in third place in the Premier League table but knowing that a tough run of fixtures is on the horizon in the coming weeks.
A hat-trick from Chris Wood took him to a Premier League best in terms of goals across the season for him with Neco Williams, Morgan Gibbs-White, Jota Silva and a Lewis Dunk own goal also getting on the score sheet.
Forest now face Exeter in the FA Cup before facing Fulham, Newcastle, Arsenal and Manchester City in Premier League games that will likely decide the team’s fate this season.

Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe react as Chris Wood scores hat-trick
The Real Madrid players were in a hotel last night before their shocking 1-0 defeat to Espanyol and an opportunistic Forest fan got the chance to quiz some of the world’s best players on Chris Wood.
The Forest striker was in sensational form as he blitzed his second hat-trick for the Reds to ensure that Forest maintain a six-point gap on the teams wanting to pinch their top-four position.
Bellingham looked somewhat sheepish when quizzed on Wood but did find time to entertain the Forest fan and said the word ‘top’ when asked about his three-goal haul in the lunchtime kick-off.
Mbappe wasn’t quite as impressed it would seem. In reality he probably was impressed with the goals but ultimately just smiled at the Forest fan who had spotted the Real Madrid stars in Spain.
Chris Wood stats vs Brighton
It was some performance from the Forest star. His first was a trademark header, his second a tap-in after brilliant work from Anthony Elanga and his third came from the penalty spot.
Wood is very much the man of the moment for Forest. Shay Given has given him a new nickname this season and right now he’s one of the best strikers in the Premier League.
| Chris Wood stats vs Brighton | Total |
| Minutes | 81 |
| Goals | 3 |
| Pass Accuracy | 88.9% |

Wood is a hardworking performer. He’s someone who clearly takes a lot of pride in his trade and despite being 33-years-old he richly deserves the new two-year contract that he recently signed.
Forest need to keep Wood fit this season. He continues to show that if the chances come his way then he will undoubtedly keep sticking them away with Forest now firmly in the hunt for a European berth next season.
