Nottingham Forest suffer big transfer blow as forward decides to join Burnley instead

Nottingham Forest made it business as usual as they roared back to winning ways with a 7-0 victory over Brighton at the City Ground.

The Reds were beaten 5-0 by Bournemouth last weekend. As a result, some sceptics had suggested that the bubble had burst somewhat but on yesterday’s showing that isn’t the case.

Forest will now switch their attention to bolstering the squad. A number of players are being looked at ahead of the transfer deadline and it will be fascinating to see what Forest can get done.

Lots of links will come to nothing of course. Now, a player who has been linked with Forest all month looks set to actually join a Championship outfit instead of waiting for the Reds to swoop.

Marcus Edwards chooses to sign for Championship club Burnley

Edwards has been linked with Forest during the January window. Now, however, Fabrizio Romano claims that he’s set to sign terms with Burnley as they look to bolster their promotion aspirations.

The Reds had hoped to snare Edwards and boost their options on the left-hand side of the pitch. The Sporting CP star has fallen out of favour in Portugal and a return to England was always on the cards.

Edwards looks set to sign for Burnley as they look to win immediate promotion back to the Premier League, with Scott Parker set to get his man over the line before the transfer deadline.

Romano posted: More details on Marcus Edwards to Burnley exclusive story. Verbal agreement done with Sporting and accepted by the player, Scott Parker key as revealed. Loan move for €1m, €12m obligation to buy based on specific conditions, 10% sell-on clause. Here we go.

Forest face battle to get new faces over the line

Edwards might have proved a pretty decent addition to the squad before the transfer deadline. However, he’s now set for Burnley and Forest will have to wait to see who they can get over the line.

After a 7-0 drubbing, Forest don’t really need anyone. However, it would be nice if the team could add one more forward at the very least to the ranks on deadline day with 14 matches remaining.

Edwards was a talent when he was at Tottenham and his form at Sporting hasn’t gone unnoticed. However, it does feel a bit of a shame that Forest haven’t tried harder to sign a player who seems to fit the profile of a Reds player nicely.

The clock is ticking on the transfer window and the focus is now on Forest to get something over the line before everything grinds to a halt.
